Advantages of Servo Motors
1. Accuracy: closed-loop position, speed and torque control avoids the missed-step behavior associated with stepper motors.
2. Speed: the source describes good high-speed performance, with rated speeds generally around 2,000-3,000 rpm.
3. Adaptability: the source describes overload capability up to three times rated torque, suitable for transient load changes and rapid starting. Actual limits depend on the selected motor.
4. Stability: smooth low-speed operation without the stepping behavior of a stepper motor, with fast response where required.
5. Response: the source describes acceleration and deceleration response times generally within tens of milliseconds.
6. Operating characteristics: reduced heat generation and noise.
Servo Motor Limitations
A servo motor may tolerate limited water or oil droplets, but this does not mean it is fully waterproof or oilproof. Do not immerse it in water or oil; suitability depends on the actual motor protection rating.
