Components of a Straightening Machine

1. Computer control: an industrial control computer, straightening software, clear operating screens and parameter-setting interfaces support the requirements of different workpieces and efficient correction cycles.

2. Servo straightening: the source describes replacing hydraulic power with imported servo motors and precision screw drives, extending hydraulic-free straightening from a few tonnes through tens of tonnes to 250 tonnes. This is a historical specification and requires verification against the current range.

3. Dual- and multiple-ram mechanisms: pneumatically switched rams accommodate different workpiece areas, such as rack teeth and shaft sections. Appropriate ram selection reduces tool wear and workpiece damage. Multiple rams can improve the efficiency of screw straightening.

4. Frames: the source describes portal and C-frame machines. Portal frames offer compact construction, good rigidity, a small footprint and straightforward integration into automatic lines. Open C-frames are simpler but less rigid, offering access for very long shafts and bars, typically in semi-automatic machines with manual loading and unloading.

5. Automatic handling: portal machines can use front-in/front-out or through-feed arrangements, with internal manipulators and external conveyors. C-frame arrangements include motor-driven cam loading and external conveyors. Front-in/front-out handling suits standalone machines; through-feed handling takes workpieces in at the front and discharges straightened parts at the rear for integration into production lines.
